Yves hopes to become a policy maker affecting change in the economic policies of the Congo to realise his dream of turning Congo into the breadbasket of Africa.
Yves’ Dream:
I come from the Democratic Republic of Congo and from an early age my life was influenced by continuous political instability. Corruption, the depreciation of our currency, the scarcity of food and clean water, political oppression, intermittent schooling and the witnessing of open battles between soldiers became a part of our life. As a result, I became very concerned about economic and political issues. I came to love economics both as a school subject and as a real instrument to promote welfare.
I will soon return to the Democratic Republic of Congo, enriched not only by a great education but also from the powerful interactions I have been privileged to have with people from around the globe whose opinions have given me insight in to how the world works and thinks. I may not be able to predict what the future holds, but I am excited at how my education and dreams will enable me to achieve my aspirations for Africa.
