Mariam’s Dream:

I am the change, I want to see. I am a leader who aspires to make change in her community. I am also known as Mariam Rogers Sezinga, aged 18, from Tanzania.

I consider myself as a leader, because I want to impact my society positively. Coming from a poor background, I dream about the improvement that I want to see, day after day. As a young person, I have never stopped thinking about the change that I want to see in my community. The change I want to see is the improvement of peoples’ lives through the promotion of education. I believe this is key to fostering development in my community. The change I seek allows me to think of a bright future for my community. A leader works with, but not for, other people and I know this change will be accomplished with the help of my community and colleagues. My journey to make the change has begun simply because I am the change that I want to see.

I found value in education and knowledge from the day I set foot into a classroom. I want to become a Minister of Education to improve the lives of people in my society through education which will empower them with knowledge and skills.
