Jubilate’s Dream:
I never believed that leaders could be trained until I came to African Leadership Academy. African Leadership Academy has changed me and brought about a huge paradigm shift in my life. In addition to our normal A-level subjects we are taught about leadership, entrepreneurship and African studies. We are also given the opportunity to design and implement development projects for the communities around us.
This change that had taken place in me was apparent when I teamed up with five other Tanzanian students during our summer break to organize an entrepreneurship challenge competition in Dar es Salam called DARECHA. The aim of DARECHA was to instill an entrepreneurial spirit and passion among young people by challenging them to identify and tackle the root cause of problems in a way that would bring about sustainable development in their communities. I was filled with immeasurable joy during this project because I had finally discovered my passion. I live the DARECHA dream. I believe that in today’s economic climate, entrepreneurship is essential to bring about development.
After graduating from African Leadership Academy, I plan to major in economics and business studies. I dream of spurring change in education systems by integrating entrepreneurship into the curriculum because I believe that this will not only bring up a generation of entrepreneurs but also drive the development of the nation.
